Master Barber Program
Curriculum & Course Requirements

In order to be licensed as a master barber, each student must complete at least 9 months (totaling 1500 hours) of training. Each student is required to obtained 280 total hours of theory training in the following curriculum:

Classroom theory - (50 credit hours)

Hair and scalp treatments, shampooing, & conditioning - (25 credit hours)

Shaving - (25 credit hours)

Coloring of hair - (25 credit hours)
-
Hair cutting & Styling - (70 credit hours)
-
Facial Hair Design & Waxing - (20 credit hours)

Permanent Waxing, relaxing, and chemical application - (65 credit hours)
When a student has completed 280 hours in the above curriculum, they are then prepared to progress to the clinic floor to perform clinical services (1220 hours) on live subjects. The curriculum should be as follows:

Theory - 200 hours

Hairstyling techniques & cutting - 500 hours

Shaving - 25 hours

Shampooing - 5 hours

Facial hair, design, & waxing - 10 hours

Scalp treatment techniques - 10 hours
-
Permanent waving, relaxing, and chemical application - 270 hours

Additional instruction (at discretion of instructor) - 200 hours
